A Petrolia man was placed in the Butler County Prison after an alleged domestic assault incident.
State Police were called to a home on the 200 block of Argyle Street on last week for a report of domestic assault. When police arrived witnesses told police that 52-year-old Troy Verner was chasing the victim around the property.
Before the chase, the victim alleged the two had gotten into an argument at an unknown time and it lasted for hours. The argument eventually became physical when Verner pulled the victim off a bed slamming her face in a wall and hitting her several times.
The victim attempted to escape and that is when the witness on scene saw Verner chasing the victim.
Verner has been charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment and is being held in the Butler County Prison a $250,000 bond.
He has a preliminary hearing schedule for Oct. 1.
