State game lands will now be easier to navigate for hunters with mobility issues.
The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners has approved a package of improvements, including a Disabled Person Access Permit.
This free permit will allow for mobility-challenged people to use ATVs, golf carts and other mobility devices on designated routes inside state game lands. This is separate from the existing permit that allows for disabled people to hunt from motorized vehicles and ATVs.
All mobility devices must meet requirements to ensure the protection of the game lands and be registered with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Hunters in wheelchairs do not need a Disabled Person Access Permit on state game lands but they do need the permit that allows hunting from vehicles in order to possess a loaded firearm.
