With interest high in this year’s election, and new ways to vote in place, that’s made the Butler County Elections office a very busy place.
That’s led the elections bureau to bring on 10 part-time staffers to deal with phone calls and mail-in applications. Election officials say if you are trying to call their office, you may get a busy signal because they are being inundated with calls.
Aaron Sheasley said a number of voters are calling because they are seeing that the state’s website shows that their ballot has been mailed out. He said a data entry caused the error, so in some instances, ballots haven’t been sent out yet.
County commissioners said they are in the process of evaluating how to better manage phone traffic.
