Phyllis A. (Sweesy) Biertempfel, 87 of Butler, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, PA.
Born October 6, 1934, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Victor Leroy and Rebecca May (Riddle) Sweesy.
Phyllis was a graduate of Butler High School. She was employed as a secretary for Marmon Keystone Corporation of Butler, PA until her retirement on January 31, 1997.
Phyllis attended First United Methodist Church of Butler, PA. She was a member of the Silver Sneakers, Pals and volunteered for the VA. Above all else, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are two sons: Michael A. Taylor and his wife Beverly of Chicora, PA; Roger E. Taylor of Butler, PA; two grandchildren: Michael J. Taylor and his wife Stephanie and Benjamin C. Taylor; six great grandchildren: Jake, Brooklynn, Aubrey, Reed, Hayden, and Emery; her sister: Janet Benninger of Butler and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard E. “Dick” Biertempfel, who she married on May 26, 1978, and died on July 13, 2001.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001. The funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 PM with Rev. David Janz officiating at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Butler County Memorial Park.
