Pierre Grosclaude, 97, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 21, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born June 17, 1920 in Verdun, France to the late Edouard Grosclaude and Gabrielle Maquinet Grosclaude.
Pierre was the Owner/Operator for Pierre Auto Sales for many years retiring in 2001. He graduated from Butler High School and was drafted into the United States Army leaving with the first group of inductees to leave Butler. Pierre served three years in the Army artillery serving in Italy during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and volunteering. Pierre was a member of Grace at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church and life member of VFW Post 249.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Hazel Thompson Grosclaude whom he married on January 28, 1943, one son, James Grosclaude and his wife Brenda of Butler, PA; one daughter-in-law, Karen Grosclaude of Prospect, PA; four grandchildren, Brian Grosclaude, Christopher Grosclaude, Randy Grosclaude, and Marcella Shay; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and two step great great grandsons; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Grosclaude, and one brother, Maurice Grosclaude;one sister, Genevieve Franklin.
Friends will be received Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 8:00 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Pastor Tara R. Lynn of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Officers and Members of the American Legion Post #117 Butler, The American Legion Post # 778 Lyndora, and the VFW Post #249 Butler will be conducting military honors following the service.
Private burial will take place in the North Side Cemetery.
