Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates fell in extra innings to the Cincinnati Reds 5-1 yesterday afternoon at PNC Park. Trevor Cahill was impressive for the Pirates over his five innings of work—allowing just one run. However, the Pirates couldn’t convert with runners in scoring position, going just 1-13. The lone RBI was from the newly returned Gregory Polanco.
Duane Underwood allowed the four runs in the 10th inning, which proved to be an insurmountable lead for the Pirates.
Philip Evans left the game in the sixth inning with a hamstring injury—his status is unclear. The Pirates did say yesterday that Colin Moran’s recovery is going better than expected, and he could be back sooner.
The Pirates take on the San Francisco Giants tonight at 6:35 p.m. Pre-game coverage begins on WISR at 6:10.
