The Pittsburgh Pirates were shutout 9-0 by the Milwaukee Brewers last night. The Pirates managed just four hits in the game, just one for extra bases, after hitting five home runs the previous night. Starting pitcher Martin Perez allowed five earned runs on nine hits before being knocked out of the game with two outs in the fifth inning.
The Pirates fell to four games under .500 with the loss, but are still three games out of a Wild Card spot.
The Bucs and Brewers complete their series this afternoon. First pitch is 2:10pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 1:45pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
The Pirates head to Chicago for a three-game series with the White Sox after the game. Following that series, they will be idle for the four-day All-Star Break, then open a six-game homestand against the Phillies and Cardinals.
