The Pittsburgh Pirates CARE-a-van made a stop in Butler on Thursday.
The CARE-a-van is an annual event where coaches and players make stops in eleven cities in the greater Pittsburgh area and visit with the community.
In Butler, first basemen Josh Bell, Pirates’ prospects J.T. Brubaker and Cole Tucker, coaches Jacob Cruz, Joey Cora and Justin Meccage stopped by the Butler VA Health Care Center in Butler Township and Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot to visit with the veterans and residents; distribute Pirates knit caps; and enjoy cupcakes and cookies.
The CARE-a-van leads up to Saturday’s PiratesFest at PNC Park.
Pitchers and catchers report to Bradenton, Florida for spring training on Feb. 12.
