Despite a stellar outing from Mitch Keller, the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen and defense faltered giving the Chicago Cubs a 6-5 win in 11 innings.
Keller threw six innings, allowing no runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Chad Kuhl meanwhile took over the 7th inning, and struggled allowing five earned runs over while recording just one out.
Eventually the Bucs tied it in the ninth on a 2-RBI Michael Perez pinch hit. In the 11th inning, Wilmer Difo dropped a pop-up to 2nd base which allowed the Cubs to win.
The Pirates face the Cubs this afternoon at 2:20 p.m.
