The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Colorado Rockies 6-2 last night to open a three-game series at PNC Park. The Bucs managed just four hits and struck out 10 times in the game. Pirate starter Steven Brault allowed five earned runs on five hits over six innings and took the loss. Just under 9,000 fans attended the game on another chilly night for baseball. The Pirates are now 11-5 overall and are two games in front of St. Louis in the National League Central Division.
The two teams play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Trevor Williams will start for the Pirates.
Second baseman Josh Harrison suffered a broken hand after being hit by a pitch in Miami Sunday. He will miss the next six weeks. The Pirates called up infielder Max Moroff from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Harrison’s roster spot.
The Pirates also sent down right-handed reliever Dovydas Neverauskas to Indianapolis to make room for left-hander Enny Romero, who was claimed off waivers from Washington.
