The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2 last night at PNC Park. Bailey Falter took the loss, allowing four unearned runs on five hits over his five innings of work. His record fell to 8-9. He completed the season with a 4.50 ERA.
Third baseman Jared Triolo led the Pirates with three hits. Catcher Joey Bart added two hits, including a double. The Bucs outhit the Brewers 10-6, but went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
The Bucs and Brewers play again tonight at PNC Park. Game time is 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:15pm.
Prior to Tuesday’s game, the Pirates designated first baseman Rowdy Tellez and outfielder Michael A. Taylor for assignment. The moves were done because the Pirates have called up younger players to play out the final stretch of their season this week. For Tellez, the move comes when he was four plate appearances shy of a $200,000 bonus. He had signed a one-year $3.2 million free agent contract prior to the season. Tellez batted .243 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI’s this season.
The two teams complete their series tomorrow afternoon. The Pirates head to New York to face the Yankees this weekend to complete their season.
