The Pittsburgh Pirates fell on the road on Friday night to the Cincinnati Reds, losing by a final of 9-5.
Rookie first baseman Josh Bell had a stellar night at the plate, batting 4-5 with two runs and three RBI. Bell also hit his 22nd home run of the season. Adam Fraizer also finished with two hits.
Ivan Nova was the Pirates’ starting pitcher. Nova pitched five innings, and gave up seven runs, five earned, and struck out six.
The Pirates and Reds will match up again Saturday night for game two of their three game set. First pitch in Cincinnati is scheduled for 6:40pm.
