The Pittsburgh Pirates fired general manager Neil Huntington Monday prior to officially announcing Travis Williams as their new president. Huntington was let go after 12 seasons with the team. It follows the 2019 season in which the team went 69-93, and also fired manager Clint Hurdle and team president Frank Coonelly. Pirates owner Bob Nutting felt the changes were necessary because the team was no longer on baseball’s “cutting edge” after returning to the playoffs a few years ago.
The World Series will resume tonight in Houston. The Astros enter Game Six with a 3-2 series lead over the Washington Nationals. Game time is 8:07pm.
