After losing to the Cincinnati Reds 11-5 Monday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates flipped the script with a 9-5 victory last night. Bryan Reynolds extended his career-high hitting streak to 22 games when he hit a first-inning home run. He had two hits in the game along with first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who also continued a hot June. Second baseman Nick Gonzales led the Bucs with three hits. Gonzales had entered the game with one hit in his last nearly two dozen at-bats.
Starting pitcher Mitch Keller earned his ninth win of the season despite being knocked out of the game in the sixth inning. Keller tossed shutout baseball over the first four innings, but was touched up for four runs, three earned before being pulled with two outs in the sixth inning.
The Bucs and Reds complete their series this afternoon at 1:10pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 12:45pm. The Pirates are off Thursday before heading to Atlanta. The Pirates are 5-8 this season in the final game of a series. Luis Ortiz is expected to be the Pirates starting pitcher today.
