The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Wednesday that they will join the Pittsburgh Penguins in an ownership agreement of Sportsnet Pittsburgh to carry the Bucs baseball games locally. The Penguins announced the creation of SportsNet Pittsburgh on August 31st, with the daily operations being managed by New England Sports Network. The Fenway Sports Group that owns the Penguins holds an 80% stake in the company.
It appears games will be produced similar to recent broadcasts viewed on AT&T Sportsnet, Root Sports and FSN Pittsburgh that produced the Penguins and Pirates broadcasts locally in recent decades.
