The Pittsburgh Pirates lost their fifth game in a row, falling 4-1 to the Chicago Cubs last night. Former Pirate starting pitcher Trevor Williams earned the victory, allowing three hits and one run over six innings. Williams did not walk a batter and struck out seven. Pirates starter Will Crowe didn’t make it through the second inning, allowing three runs on five hits. The Bucs had five hits in the game and struck out 12 times.
The Bucs and Cubs complete their series today at 12:35pm. WISR will join the game following the News at Noon.
Two key Pirate prospects have been hit with injuries. Outfield prospect Travis Swaggerty suffered a shoulder separation diving back into a base playing for Triple-A Indianapolis. Swaggerty was the Pirates top draft pick in 2018. Infielder Nick Gonzales suffered a fractured finger playing at the Single-A level. Gonzales was the Pirates first round selection last year.
