The Washington Nationals handed the Pittsburgh Pirates their ninth consecutive loss with an 8-1 victory last night in D.C. Pirates starting pitcher Tyler Anderson allowed a first inning grand-slam home run as the Nationals jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening frame. Anderson allowed six earned runs on 10 hits over six innings. Third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes failed to have a hit for the first time in 11 games this season.
