The Pittsburgh Pirates’ losing streak has climbed to four games after they fell to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night by a final of 2-1.
Ivan Nova was the starting pitcher for the Bucs. He pitched six and one third innings, giving up both runs and three hits while striking out six. Andrew McCutchen hit his 26th home run in the top of the ninth, as the Pirates’ batting order only managed six combined hits in the losing effort.
The Pirates and Reds will close out their three game series Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati before the Pirates return home on Monday for their final homestand of the year. First pitch on Sunday is set for 1:10pm.
