The Pittsburgh Pirates rallied from a six run deficit last night to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 11-7 at PNC Park. The Pirates were propelled by an eight run 7th inning which saw a 2-RBI double by Gregory Polanco and another pinch hit home run by Yoshi Tsutugo.
Michael Chavis, who the Pirates acquired at the deadline, recorded four hits last night. Colin Moran had four hits too, along with his 7th home run of the season.
The Cardinals jumped on starter Mitch Keller early, but Keller eventually settled in to pitch into the sixth inning.
The Pittsburgh Pirates host the St. Louis Cardinals for game two of their four-game series tonight at PNC Park. First pitch is 7:05pm.
