The Pittsburgh Pirates shutout the Chicago Cubs 5-0 last night. Paul Skenes threw five shutout innings, allowing four hits. He walked four and struck out six to improve his record to 9-2 this season. He also lowered his ERA to 2.13.
Jared Triolo hit a three-run home run for the Pirates in the seventh inning.
Colin Holderman was one of three relievers who held the Cubs scoreless over the final four innings. It was his first appearance since being placed on the Injured List August 8th.
The Bucs and Cubs complete their series tonight at 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm.
The Pirates return home following the game tonight and will host the Washington Nationals for four games beginning tomorrow night as part of a 10-game home-stand.
