The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept in a three-game series by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have the worst record in baseball. Arizona completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory Wednesday. This comes after the Bucs almost swept the first-place New York Mets last weekend.
The Diamondbacks knocked rookie pitcher Max Kranick out of the game before he completed an out in the fourth inning. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits. Reliever Duane Underwood, Jr. took the loss when he allowed back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning after the Bucs had tied the game at 4-4. Bryan Reynolds led the Pirates with a three-hit day.
The Pirates are off today and visit San Francisco for three games beginning Friday night.
