The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept in a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds. The Bucs lost the first game 3-1 thanks to a walk-off two-run home run in the seventh inning by Reds pinch-hitter Tyler Stephenson.
They lost the night-cap 9-4.
The two teams play again tonight at 6:40pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:15pm. The Pirates are now 14-32 this season, the worst record in Major League Baseball.
Cody Ponce was a positive in the opening game. He was called up from Altoona to start, and allowed one hit and a run in four innings of work.
Reliever Kyle Crick’s season is over, after he was placed on the Injured List for the second time this season.
