The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-3 Sunday afternoon. Catcher Joey Bart hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to help the Pirates win their three-game series with the Braves.
New Pirates manager Don Kelly is now 2-1 since taking over for Derek Shelton. The Bucs defeated the Braves 3-2 Friday night. They lost 3-2 in 11-innings Saturday.
The Pirates begin a three-game series in New York tonight against the Mets. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates. First pitch is 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:45pm.
The Colorado Rockies have fired Bud Black after a 7-33 start to their season. Colorado promoted third base coach Warren Schaeffer, who is a Vandergrift native, to be the interim manager. They also fired bench coach Mike Redmond. Hitting coach Clint Hurdle, the former Pirates manager, takes over as interim bench coach. Black was fired Sunday after the Rockies beat the Padres 9-3.
