The Pittsburgh Pirates earned back-to-back walk-off victories to take their three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at PNC Park over the weekend. The Bucs won Sunday’s game 3-2 with a two-run rally in the ninth inning. They won in the 11th inning Saturday.
The Pirates scored the two winning runs on a Baltimore error with two outs in the ninth inning.
Starting pitcher Marco Gonzales allowed two runs on five hits while pitching six innings. Jose Hernandez, who was called up prior to the game from Triple-A Indianapolis, earned the victory. He joined Roansy Contreras in keeping the Orioles scoreless over the final three innings.
The Pirates called up Hernandez after placing reliever Ryan Borucki on the Injured List.
The Pirates host the Detroit Tigers for a two-game series beginning tonight at 6:40pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Bucs.
The Pirates have won eight of their first 10 games and are tied with the New York Yankees for the best record in baseball.
