The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Seattle Mariners in the first game of a three-game series in Seattle Friday Night by a score of 11-6.
The Pirates tied a franchise record after hitting 7 home runs in the game. This is only the third time since 1901 that the Pirates have hit 7 home runs, happening previously in 2003 and 1947.
6 Pirates sent balls out of the park, including outfielder Jack Suwinski who collected his 8th and 9th home runs. Carlos Santana, Bryan Reynolds, Ke’Bryan Hayes, and Tucupita Marcano all homered, while Andrew McCutchen homered to lead off the game.
Starting pitcher Mitch Keller would get the win, despite giving up 6 runs. He went 6+ innings, 7 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.
