The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-2 Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. Ke’Bryan Hayes had four hits in the game, including a double. He also scored twice. Ben Gamel drove in three runs in the first inning with a home run off Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks.
Dillon Peters earned the victory in relief of Zach Thompson, who went four innings. Wil Crowe pitched three shutout innings to close the game with a save. He allowed one hit and struck out four.
The Bucs begin a four-game series with the Washington Nationals tonight. First pitch is 6:35pm.
