Nearly 600 junior high and high school students will present the results of science-related research projects at an event this weekend at Slippery Rock University.
The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science is holding the 63rd annual Region IX meeting Saturday on the SRU campus. A welcome address is scheduled for 11 a.m. with presentations beginning at 1 p.m. in various locations around campus followed by an awards ceremony at 6 p.m.
Students from nine counties around Western Pennsylvania will compete for nearly $24,000 in scholarships from SRU based on rankings provided by 180 judges. This event is free and open to the public.
Participants who receive a first place ranking will have the chance to present their projects at the state competition this May at Penn State.
