The Butler Area School District has taken the next step in the process of an addition to Senior High School facilities.
Following a presentation by representatives of the district’s engineering company and architectural contractor, the Butler Township Planning Commission approved land development plans for an auxiliary gym.
This 11,000 square foot pre-engineered building with blue metal paneling, opaque glass, and concrete block will be used mostly for physical education classes with collapsible seating for 350 spectators. This facility will be placed on an area that is already paved and also will allow for LED lighting, new restrooms, and locker room reorganization.
This project is currently out to bid with a bid opening planned for Thursday. The Butler School Board could approve the awarding of the bid at their next meeting on Monday. Pending final approval from the Butler Township Commissioners later this month, an 8 month construction period could begin at the end of the school year.
