It’s a great weekend to enjoy some outdoor activities at Moraine State Park.
First, a seminar about Purple Martins is scheduled for Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Pavilion 7 on the North Shore. Bird experts will lead a discussion about the history of this bird and nest monitoring practices.
Then, the Muddy Creek Oil Field Living History exhibit will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Park Road. Volunteers will be on hand to operate the engine and answer questions.
Finally, a wildlife paddle is planned for Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to noon leaving from the Upper 528 Boat Launch. The park naturalist will lead the excursion and participants are encouraged to bring binoculars.
Reservations are required for the first and last events by calling the park office and space is limited. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a face mask or covering.
