With Thanksgiving only a week away, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are ramping up efforts to keep motorists safe.
Operation Safe Holiday is now underway and will continue through Sunday, November 29th.
Even though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that staying home is the best way to protect against the dangerous spread of COVID-19, many people are still expected to spend more time traveling than they would without the holiday.
Operation Safe Holiday will include making sure drivers and front-seat passengers are using seat belts and also that children are secured properly in child safety seats. This effort will also focus on a campaign targeting impaired driving as well as making sure motorists obey the Move Over Law when vehicles are pulled off to the side of the highway.
