Two Butler residents are facing charges as a result of police allegations that they were running a couple of modern local speakeasies.
According to a criminal complaint filed by State Police, Gary and Michele Falconer have been charged with misdemeanor selling of malt or brewed beverages without a valid retail license.
This investigation began with the submission of an anonymous web complaint received by State Police earlier this year. Undercover troopers entered Falcon’s Toy Store on West Jefferson Street five times in July and August and observed 14 illegal gambling devices. The trooper was offered unlimited free alcohol as long as he was gambling.
During an interview at the Butler City Police Department in September, Michele Falconer told police that their supplier told them that alcohol could be given to players because other places did the same thing.
