Police have closed an investigation into what was initially thought to be an attempted robbery at an ATM after finding out it was a misunderstanding.
Sunday night just after 9 p.m. at the Clearview Mall PNC Bank a person was depositing cash into the ATM, when a vehicle approached from behind. The driver of the vehicle got out of his car with what the person at the ATM described as “an unknown object in his hand.”
That led the person at the ATM to flee the scene. However, police say they reviewed surveillance video and spoke with the driver of the other vehicle. The man was depositing money of his own into a box attached to the bank. The person at the ATM told police he wasn’t sure why the other driver exited the vehicle, so he fled the area.
No charges were filed and no money was stolen.
