You may have seen them popping up in bars, restaurants, and convenient stores—but authorities are now cracking down on video gambling machines.
State police spokesman Ryan Tarkowski says they have seized over 70 illegal gambling machines since late January.
“A big portion of the video gambling devices that were seized, were gambling devices that are marketed as skill machines,” Tarkowski said. “And we’re seeing these pop up in licensed liquor establishments, and even outside of those establishments like pizza shops, smoking shops, convenient stores, and malls all throughout the state.”
Tarkowski says that establishments that have illegal gambling machines could be subject to criminal penalties, and possible ramifications under state liquor laws.
