Court documents made available over the weekend offer more details into last week’s homicide in Butler County, and the circumstances leading to charges against two additional people.
Alec Miller, 19, of Oakland Township was arrested last week and charged with killing 23-year-old Maximillian Halterman, but it’s what happened after the alleged murder that led to charges against two others.
Robbie Dunbar, 27, of Butler and Lamaria Franklin, 20, of Winfield Township have each been charged with a third-degree felony for hindering apprehension or prosecution. They could face up to 10 years in prison for their roles in allegedly helping Alec Miller elude authorities following Tuesday night’s shooting.
According to a police criminal complaint, Dunbar allegedly lied to authorities during his initial interview and said he had no contact with Miller other than a few text messages which he showed police. Through an investigation, police found out Miller had contacted Dunbar in the hours after the murder asking for a ride, and Dunbar had given him that ride.
“After further interviews of Miller’s associates, we learned Miller had called Dunbar at approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday asking for a ride from a residence on Bessemer Avenue in Lyndora to an address on Jefferson Street in the city of Butler,” according to court documents.
Lamaria Franklin had also allegedly initially told police she hadn’t seen or spoken to Alec Miller at all. But, police found surveillance video from a convenience store in Venango County that showed the two together on Wednesday, the day after the murder. Police believe the two were dating.
All three suspects are being held in the Butler County Prison.
