Police have released more information on a crash that shut down a portion of Route 422 last week.
The three vehicle crash happened last Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m. near the Pilot travel center in Muddy Creek Township.
Police say a minivan driven by 77-year-old Terry Trent of Volant was speeding on the highway and swerving between multiple vehicles.
Trent then tried to pass a tractor trailer at the traffic light in front of the Pilot station. He sideswiped the truck and then rear-ended a car driven by 67-year-old Clare Doerfler of New Castle.
Doerfler had to be taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and her passenger 68-year-old Michael Doerfler was flown to a Pittsburgh trauma center.
Trent was not injured, but police say he was under the influence of alcohol.
