Authorities have located and arrested the chief suspect- as well as two others- thought to be involved in the shooting death of a man in Oakland Township earlier this week.
Police arrested 19-year-old Alec Miller of Butler early Thursday afternoon. They found him inside a home in Franklin, Venango County.
Two others were also arrested Thursday for hindering the apprehension of Miller. 20-year-olds Robbie Dunbar Jr. and Lamaria Franklin, both of New Kensington.
Franklin is the daughter of the owner of the home where Miller was found.
“He surrendered without incident,” Trooper Dan Kesten said during a news conference Thursday.
Miller has been charged with homicide in the death of 23-year-old Maximillian Halterman. Police did not release information on a motive.
According to court documents, Miller and Halterman were neighbors. Miller is accused of taking a rifle out of his grandparents’ gun cabinet- driving to Halterman’s home- and shooting him once in the neck and once in the head.
Police obtained surveillance video that allegedly shows Miller leaving his grandparents’ home- where he lived- and driving over the Halterman’s. Miller is then allegedly shown walking in and out of the house several times, and then leaving the scene 24 minutes later.
Police obtained texts messages between Miller and a friend which allegedly showed Miller admitting to the murder texting, “I went to Max’s house and smoked him… I shot him in the neck and head.”
Police have recovered the truck Miller allegedly drove to Halterman’s home and the rifle. The rifle had one spent shell casing in the chamber.
