A popular Pennsylvania Game Commission program has been suspended.
The annual tree and shrub seedling sale from Howard Nursery will not be offered to the public this year due to drastically low inventories. In the past, sales have opened in January and the variety of seedlings varies from year to year.
Seedlings will continue to be supplied to participants in the Seedlings for Schools program as well as landowners who open property to public hunting through the Hunter Access program.
The shortage is due to a germination failure in a couple of conifer species. The Game Commission plans to resume the public seedling sales in 2019.
