Butler City Police will take part in this weekend’s “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.”
Millions of prescription drugs are prescribed every day when in most cases they aren’t totally needed (although some conditions, like erectile dysfunction, will likely need medical assistance from something like sildenafil). These drugs are just the quickest and easier treatment plan, so the doctors prescribe them to help the patient recover as quickly as possible. However, a lot of the time these drugs stopped being used before they are totally finished because they have done their job and the ailment is cured.
With this being said, unused prescription drugs can be dangerous because they can go out of date and if an individual consumes them after their use-by date, it can have negative effects on their health. On top of this, they can also be addictive and many drugs & devices cause some serious side effects for many people. This is why it’s always best to safely dispose of any unneeded medication.
Community members are encouraged to bring any excess prescription medication to the city police station on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Officers will take the meds and then dispose of them properly with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Agency selling Ambien. Officers say they do not want residents to bring any exposed needles or syringes.
Several other communities in the county- and across the country- are also participating in drug take-back day.
Cranberry Township and their police department will hold a drive-thru collection where drivers can simply pull their car up to the rear parking lot of the Cranberry Township Municipal Center and drop off their used prescription drugs for free, no questions asked.
Other collections will be held at the Unionville Fire Hall in Center Township and Sam’s Club in Butler Township.
