The congressmen representing parts of Butler County all voted along party lines during yesterday’s impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Republicans Mike Kelly and Glenn “GT” Thompson both opposed the two articles of impeachment.
Kelly garnered attention during his time on the House floor, saying that “December 18, 2019 will be a day that will live in infamy,” recalling President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speech following the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Meanwhile Democrat Conor Lamb, who represents a portion of Cranberry Township, voted to impeach the President.
Dr. Terry Madonna is a political science professor with Franklin and Marshall College and said he wasn’t surprised to see the partisan vote.
“Democratic voters overwhelmingly support impeachment,” Madonna said. “Conversely, only 10 to 12 percent of Republicans support impeachment.”
Madonna believes those strong numbers are why those in Congress held the party line.
A trial is expected to begin in the United States Senate sometime in January.
