City officials now say the new hotel under construction in downtown Butler will be finished Nov. 1.
The Marriott Springhill Suites, which is being built at the corner of South McKean and East Jefferson streets as part of the Centre City Project, has been under construction for two years. It was originally expected to be open in March of 2017. That date was pushed back to August and then postponed until November.
The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler has agreed to an amendment to their loan agreement that extends repayment to now start Dec. 7. During a meeting by the authority on Thursday, officials gave a progress report on work at the site including the installation of HVAC equipment, plugs and light switches have been installed in nearly all rooms and fire alarm system work is nearly complete.
In addition, carpet has been installed in all guestrooms, the tile contractor has finished installation in the pool, lobby, and elevator areas, and washers and dryers have been hooked up in the laundry room.
