The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference recently announced that it has extended an invitation to Lackawanna College to become the conference’s 18th member institution. A press conference held on the school’s campus in late June.
Lackawanna College, based in Scranton, will be the third institution nationally to transition from the national Junior college level directly to NCAA Division II and the first to do so with a football program. They will join the PSAC-East, with Lock Haven moving back to the PSAC-West. The addition and move will allow the West Division to replace Mercyhurst, who moved to Division I in 2024. The NCAA approval process could take two to three years, but it is possible that Lackawanna will begin football play in the PSAC as that process continues.
