The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will hold two public hearings next month on a proposed rate increase requested by Columbia Gas.
The hearings will take place over the telephone on Wednesday, July 8th at 1 and 6 p.m.
Columbia requested the $100 million per year rate hike in April. The average monthly bill for a residential customer would increase by nearly 18% from nearly $88 per month to over $103 per month.
Those who would like to testify at this hearing should contact the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate by the day before the hearing. That toll-free number is 1-800-684-6560. The link for those who would like to just listen is posted to the PUC website.
Columbia Gas provides service to roughly 433,000 residents and businesses in western and southern Pennsylvania, including many in Butler County.
