Pennsylvania’s Public Utility Commission is making residents aware of upcoming changes to the cost of electricity.
According to the PUC, all electric distribution companies will adjust electricity prices for residential and small business customers who have not shopped around for service as of June 1st.
The PUC encourages all residents to compare prices for electric generation and evaluate competitive supplier options or risk paying more during the summer months. West Penn Power residential customers with default service will actually see a decrease of around twelve percent.
The PUC’s website PAPowerSwitch.com is a good place to start when looking for more information about comparing power service costs. Important questions to ask include if rates are fixed or variable as well as contract length and the possibility of additional fees.
