With high temperatures and humidity expected around the area over the next several days, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is asking residents to conserve energy and prepare for a power outage.
A “Hot Weather Alert” is in effect through Saturday for the entire Mid-Atlantic region meaning higher heat and humidity levels followed by potentially severe storms could stress the power grid.
Energy conservation and cooling ideas from the PUC include turning off non-essential appliances and as many lights as possible; postponing using appliances that produce heat until after 7 p.m.; and spending as much time as possible in rooms that do not receive direct sunlight.
