Raccoon hunting season will likely be slightly longer this year due to a new proposed schedule.
Pennsylvania Game Commission officials say the season is expected to start in October as usual and run beyond firearm deer season. There are also three Sundays in November that will be open for raccoon hunting.
Game Commission officials also say an error on the website made it appear that raccoon season would be shorter which led to some confusion among hunters. That mistake has been corrected.
The Commission board officially votes on the proposed schedule this April.
