Raymond Meade Gray, 89, of Columbus, OH passed away peacefully at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Friday, December 4, 2020.
Raymond was born in Seminole, Pennsylvania on February 17, 1931. He was the son of the late Alvie and Bertha McGregor Gray.
A loving husband and father, Raymond was a handyman around the house following his retirement and enjoyed his dogs, playing golf, and watching sports. He was big fan of Ohio State. During his working career he was a Field Engineer for Republic Steel and lived in a number of places during his work career and finally settled in Youngstown, Ohio where he and his family lived until 1990, when he and his wife, Allene, moved to Columbus, Ohio. He was currently residing in the Danbury Assisted Living Facility in Worthington, OH. He was an active and dedicated member of the Northwest Methodist Church in Columbus, OH. He was also an active member of the Masonic Temple and was a 3rd Degree Mason.
Raymond is survived by his sons, Douglas and his wife, Rose, and Scott and his wife, Melissa; two grandchildren, Monica and Marissa Gray, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Allene McFadden Gray, whom he married on September 5, 1951 in Hammond, IN; his brothers, William and Lloyd, and his sisters, Geneva, Geraldine, Frances, Kate, Mildred, and Virginia.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers that assisted him during his time in the hospital at Riverside Methodist and extend our greatest and warmest appreciation and gratitude for their kindness and assistance.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 11 where a funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
