A real estate development company with properties in Butler County is now the focus of a federal investigation.
The FBI raided the upstate New York headquarters of Morgan Communities and Morgan Management last week. According to the affidavit, the company is accused of exaggerating its numbers to try to get more loan money. At a property in Cranberry Township, the four men named in the investigation are accused of conspiring to put out welcome mats and shoes in front of empty apartments to make the units appear lived in.
Investigators say it was all to make the apartment complexes appear more profitable to inflate reported rental prices and secure big ticket loans.
The developer is associated with the Rochester Village and Eden Square housing developments in Cranberry.
