Butler City officially has a new council member.
Fred Reese was sworn-in this morning inside the City Building in Downtown Butler.
Reese was unanimously appointed to the seat earlier this month after the death of Councilman Mike Walter.
“Why did I get back into it? [Council] needed some help,” Reese said. “After Mike, who was a great guy that I got to work with when I was on council for three months, passed away, I figured they could use my services.”
Reese, who has served previously as a council member, will finish Walter’s term through 2023.
“I’m very excited to be back into it. I always loved city politics,” Reese said. “It’s a small town and I love it.”
He will oversee the Streets Department.
