Could the registration sticker be coming back to your license plate soon?
A bill that would re-implement the sticker passed through the House Transportation Committee last week. Advocates for the bill say it could help increase revenue for PennDOT and also assist those in law enforcement.
Rep. Barry Jozwiak of Berks County proposed the bill. He says that PennDOT is missing out on $51 million in revenue from people who didn’t register their vehicles over the last three years. He also called the sticker a “significant tool” that law enforcement used to identify registered and unregistered vehicles.
The state stopped requiring the registration sticker and switched over to a completely online system in 2017.
The bill now moves to the House for a vote at a later date.
