The Butler Transit Authority has returned to regular fares on their local service while free fares on the commuter service are extended indefinitely.
At their meeting last month, the Authority’s board of directors authorized administrators and employees to resume local fare charges June 1st after local fares were made free in the middle of March.
Around the same time commuter service was reduced then eventually suspended completely until both Butler and Allegheny Counties moved into the green phase of reopening which is scheduled to take place Friday. Free fares for commuter service have been extended until further notice and service will resume on Monday, June 8.
The Authority also approved adjusting the lines inside local buses to improve social distancing as well as installed shields for the drivers. Riders are now able to utilize Token Transit for mobile ticketing but the downtown bus terminal has also reopened only to allow for ticketing.
